Dreaming Bigger

What is Dreaming Bigger?

Tchiki Davis asks “What Does It Mean to Dream Bigger? (A Definition): Bigger is a relative term. It just refers to being a little higher or larger than now. That is, our goals and visions for the future are a little brighter. For example, maybe we dream of quitting our dead-end job. Then, dreaming bigger may mean we focus instead on getting the job we really want. Or, if our current dream is to make enough money to support ourselves, we could dream bigger by imagining living really comfortably or being able to support additional family members too.” (Davis, 2022)

She continues, “Dreaming big doesn’t have to mean we suddenly want to be a millionaire or become famous (although it could mean that for some of us). They just require us to set our sights a little higher.” (Davis, 2022)

Finally, she states, “Because dreams are a cousin of goals, they also need realistic and well planned out.” (Davis, 2022)

Dreaming bigger will provide you with a sense of accomplishment, even if your dream or dreams don’t come true. When you dream, you set your sights on something bigger than yourself, especially when the dream may seem impossible. It gives you motivation to make changes and act towards that dream. Jim Rohn has said, “Ask yourself, ‘How long am I going to work to make my dreams come true?’ I suggest you answer, ‘As long as it takes.’” (30 “Dream Big” Quotes That Will Motivate You Right Now, 2021)

So, what does dream bigger mean for me? I am tired of living of living month to month.  I would love to have the ability to just get up and go, enjoy my retirement to the fullest. Not having to worry about how I am going to pay for my travels. I have twelve states left to visit of the United States. To have the ability to visit my son and family without constraints. Spend time with my grandson since we have about 500 miles between us. Me living in western New York and him living in eastern Connecticut. I want to help others succeed and achieve their dreams. I find solace in helping those less fortunate, feeling the love and appreciation for my contribution in helping them find the next meal or helping them get out of the cold or nasty weather. Helping them with the next step, maybe getting their life in order and achieving freedoms they have only imagined. My mother is also getting up in age and if something happens while I am traveling, I need to have the funds necessary to return home, should the need arise.
